Professional Women in Building (PWB)

The Home Builders Association of Saginaw would like to announce their 2017-2019 Professional Women in Building (PWB) Board of Directors.

Through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Professional Women in Building represents nearly a thousand women in the industry across the U.S. Professional Women in Building members work in all aspects of the building industry: as owners, marketing experts, interior designers, and mortgage brokers. Members join through a network of 45 local and state Professional Women in Building organizations and as National Members directly through NAHB PWB.

Members receive support from each other and collectively create programs and events that represent and reflect their unique interests.  They share strategies and business solutions through education, networking, publications, mentoring and legislative awareness. Many local councils provide hands-on community outreach opportunities throughout the year, and scholarships that support both young women and men just entering into the trades and professionals who are seeking continuing education and professional development.

Scholarships Available

The Professional Women in Building Council, through The Home Builders Association of Saginaw, would like to announce that they are prepared to award scholarships to give students who are to begin or are continuing their education in the skilled trades.

“Through sponsorship and generous community donations, the HBA is able to provide this gift granting opportunity to students interested in the building trades. With a severe shortage of qualified workers, we need to encourage students to carry on the traditions of our hard working builders and contractors in our local communities”, states the HBA Executive Director, Michelle Revette.

This scholarship is offered to students participating in a technical field of study within the building industry. The scholarship is available to either part time students who are working in the industry or full time students who wish to enter skilled trades. Scholarships are awarded based on career goals, academic achievement, work experience and community service. Applicant’s cumulative grade point average must be a minimum of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) to qualify. Industry related fields qualifying for this scholarship include, but are not limited to: General Contracting, Construction Management, Architectural Programs, Interior Design, Trade Apprentices, etc.
